Mohegan Inspire celebrates opening in style

Following a series of soft openings over the last six months, Mohegan Inspire hosted its official opening ceremony in Yeongjong island near Seoul.  

Since the initial soft opening in late November, Inspire has launched an exclusive casino, which is now Korea’s largest, and is targeted towards international visitors. Further, a 5-star 1,200+ room hotel, Inspire Arena, which can be utilised as a multi-purpose indoor venue and has a 15,000 capacity,Online Casino Games and the scheduled opening of Inspire Mall this month, are all in the pipeline.  

The launch party saw Mohegan fuse cultures from all over the world, including performances from up-and-coming Korean musicians, a Mohegan drum group also performed the “Honour Song” in celebration of the meeting of the two communities. The initial phase of the ribbon-cutting featured a traditional Mohegan smudge ceremony conducted by Chairman Gessner and Council of Elders Chairman Charlie Strickland.  

Celebrations were held at the heart of Inspire, the Rotunda – which operates as a versatile hub for the complex and is home to Korea’s most expansive ballroom (pictured above)

Mohegan President and CEO Ray Pineault said: "Our journey here has been guided by the Spirit of Aquai, Mohegan’s guiding principal that emphasises hospitality, mutual respect, collaboration and relationship building." 

Inspire Integrated Resort itself is wholly owned and operated by Mohegan as a special-purpose corporation established in Korea. Mohegan is a tribal US operator that owns, operates and develops eight entertainment-integrated resorts both now in Korea and across North America.
